12 Mar Parks and Green Space build Community Health
Did you know that parks and green space help keep children and families connected, healthy, and protected? It’s true!
The majority of LA County residents cannot access a park within a 10-minute walk of home, and nearly two out of three residents of color live in a park-poor community. Our neighborhood parks are mostly funded through local, state, and federal government funding programs, but funding is often uncertain. We need your support to ensure strong public investments in our valuable community spaces! #WeAllNeedParks because we all deserve a safe, clean park within a 10-minute walk from home!
Parks produce important social and community benefits, from making neighborhoods more livable to creating opportunities to walk, bike, and connect with nature. Parks boost quality of life in our communities and help us develop stronger social ties with our neighbors. For example, for one million Angelenos, the LA River offers 51-miles of natural habitat, recreational space, and a transformative opportunity to weave together the fabric of our diverse neighborhoods.
