Saturday night Friends of the Los Angeles River is joined by UCLA to celebrate the release of the Luskin Center’s LA River Greenway Guide! Get the latest from a panel of LA River leaders and then rock the river with performances by Martin Booe and California Percussion!

10:00 AM | Yoga for the Outdoor Enthusiast with REI
FoLAR’s friends at REI Co-op are bringing yoga to the Frog Spot with a low-cost, $5, class for the community! Practicing yoga is an excellent way to develop strength, balance, and flexibility. Join REI’s professional yoga instructor for an in-store class tailored to help enhance your pursuit of season-specific outdoor activities. Register in advance to participate.

10:00 AM | Los Angeles River Nature Walk
Join Frog Spot’s Naturalists on our daily guided tour along the Los Angeles River Bike Path launching from the Frog Spot. This is your chance to start exploring the hidden ecosystem that runs through the heart of Los Angeles, and ties us all together.

5:00 PM | A Night at the LA River with the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation
FoLAR and the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation are hosting A Night at the LA River at the Frog Spot. The evening will feature the release of the Luskin Center’s LA River Greenway Guide, a panel discussion – The LA River Greenway Through Public-Private Partnership, followed by live music from Martin Booe and California Percussion for a unique night at our riverfront beer garden!

California Percussion Los Angeles presents Cal Percussion LA & Friends Marimba Band! These guys and gals will be playing ragtime and classical favorites arranged for marimbas, xylophones, slide whistles & glockenspiels. This is a set of toe tapping, knee slapping novelty music so feel free to bring your tambourine and jam along.

8:15 AM | Sunday Morning Mindfulness Meditation
Join UCLA Certified Mindfulness Facilitator and Creativity Coach Jennifer Howd for Sunday morning mindfulness meditation. Each session will include guided meditation, silent practice time, and the opportunity for community sharing. Chairs will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own meditation cushion. There is a $5 donation at the time of class.
9:00 AM | Yoga with Evolve Sacred Healing at the Frog Spot
Join Evolve Sacred Healing at The Frog Spot for Vinyasa Yoga by the LA River. Yoga instructor Avalon Solange will teach a powerfully healing one-hour yoga session. Bring your own yoga mat. The Frog Spot offers free spa water and premium beverages and snacks for purchase. $5.00 Donation at time of class.

The Frog Spot will host author Barbara Crane for a reading from her novel “When Water Was Everywhere”. About the book: American immigrants, Mexican Californios, Tongva/Gabrieleno Indians and Spanish padres come to life in Barbara Crane’s imaginative re-telling of California’s Mexican era, set in what is now Long Beach and in the pueblo of Los Angeles. As the novel unfolds, its themes of loss, hope and redemption resonate from every page.
