Every year more and more walkers and bikers, individuals and families enjoy the paths and parks that dot the river banks in the SF valley, Glendale Narrows, and Gateway Cities. Every day these people ask, “Why aren’t they connected?”

Los Angeles isn’t a car only city anymore! Metro is beginning to make strides towards a more walkable, bikeable, and rideable LA County. In the last year, the extensions of the Gold and Expo rail lines surpassed ridership expectations, and newer more reliable Metro buses have been seen more often down major transit corridors.
Measure M makes crucial investments in our regional transportation system but also critically includes the LA River as part of the solution of a more connected and livable LA County.
Here’s what Measure M will do:
- • Complete the LA River Bike Path/Greenway. It provides $465M to close the gaps in the bikeway/greenway along the LA River, providing 51 miles of connectivity from the Valley to the Pacific Ocean.
- • Create traffic relief – Modernize our transportation system. Investments in highway, active transportation, and complete streets projects account for 19% of Measure M – projects that would improve repair degraded streets, increase traffic flow, reduce bottlenecks.
- • Expand Bus and Rail Transit Operations. Over 40 years, it will provide nearly $30B for investments in Bus and Rail line projects, giving communities better alternatives for commuting across the county.
- • Funds O & M of Transit and Rail. Operations and maintenance is crucial to ensuring the reliability of the system that moves people to their homes and jobs. 27% of Measure M is set aside for transit operations and maintenance.
We need better transit options in Los Angeles, and we need to invest in the LA River as part of that effort. Help make that future happen by voting yes on Measure M and #VoteLARiver on Nov 8th.
