03 May The Largest Urban River CleanUp in America
We closed out the Great Los Angeles River CleanUp: La Gran Limpieza with an amazing showing during the Lower River CleanUp! 1,500 volunteers came down to 4 sites and picked up an estimated 12 tons of trash!
Over the entire month-long event 9,000 volunteers came out and proved that Angelenos love their River. At 15 sites from Canoga Park to Lincoln Heights to Long Beach, the LA River Movement collected an estimated 70 tons of trash. This is the largest urban river clean up in America.
This movement isn’t just about taking out the trash. It’s about countless people rallying a river that ties our communities together.
It’s about people from the grassroots to City Hall sharing the dream of a swimmable, fishable, boatable, bikeable Los Angeles River for all the people of the Los Angeles River to enjoy.
Thank you for being a part of the LA River Movement and making the Great Los Angeles River CleanUp an outstanding success. More than that thank you for giving Friends of the Los Angeles River the chance to be a leader in this amazing movement.
