24 Apr Thanks for joining our Third Policy at the River
Thanks to all who attended our Third Policy at the River to learn about upcoming parks and water ballot measures!
Thank you to everyone who came out to our Third Policy at the River event! Special thank you to all of our exquisite and informed panelists Shona Ganguly from The Nature Conservancy, Bruce Reznik from LA Waterkeeper, Alfredo Gonzalez from Resources Legacy Fund, Steve Veres from the Office of Senate Pro Tem Kevin De León, and Keshia Sexton from Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust for sharing their knowledge and experience on water and parks.

This month’s Policy Talk underscored the importance of voting yes on Prop 68 on the June Ballot. The $4 billion spending measure will be guaranteed funding to the LA River, and Los Angeles County stands eligible for half of all the funding in the measure to deliver needed parks and water infrastructure investment to our local under-served communities. With this much on the line, it’s critical that every River advocate tell their friends, family, and coworkers they support Prop 68 – and for those with time to volunteer, you can participate with any of the organizations in attendance to spread the word on the phone, in person, or online in support of Prop 68. More information available on the Prop 68 Coalition’s website.
Our Policy at the River event series serves as a platform to encourage public dialogue among expert practitioners and interested stakeholders on upcoming efforts and developments in our River movement. As a promise from our last event, we modified the format of the event to allow more personal and direct 1:1 conversations that could happen organically, giving attendees the opportunity to self-direct their questions and engage in conversations most relevant to them.
Next Time – For those who couldn’t make it, we hope you can join us for next event in late June. When we finalize a date we’ll certainly let you know. To everyone, please feel free to share any thoughts/feedback on these events. Your comments will be essential in helping us improve our discussions. You can email or call Stephen Mejia at smejia@folar.org, or 323-223-0585.
I would also like to the thank Mountains and Recreation Conservation Authority for hosting the event at the beautiful LA River Center & Garden.
