29 May FoLAR CEO Marissa Christiansen on Lewis MacAdams
It’s humbling to be in the presence, the shadow, the footsteps of someone who has literally changed the landscape of Los Angeles with a poetic vision of what could be if everything were different. Lewis’s perseverance, creativity, and stubbornness is why Los Angeles has something called “a river,” it’s why all of us at FoLAR get to work everyday at something that inspires and intrigues us, it’s why anyone in LA who considers themselves a river advocate has something to advocate for, and – most of all – it’s a shining example of the power of one, that becomes the effort of many.
At the end of his days, I hope Lewis was cognizant of the impact he had on this world and on each of us. He led such a winding, fabled, and momentous life. I truly believe he lived the kind of life with the kind of meaning to be proud of. We should all be so lucky to leave such a lasting and positive mark on the world and I’m proud to be a part of making sure that impact lasts for generations to come.
