This Saturday the Frog Spot is proud to host the LA Skins Music Fest celebrating Native American music in Los Angeles! Our full schedule for this weekend (Sat 7/23 – Sun 7/24) is below:
10:00 AM | Los Angeles River Nature Walk
Join Frog Spot’s Naturalists on our daily guided tour along the Los Angeles River Bike Path launching from the Frog Spot. This is your chance to start exploring the hidden ecosystem that runs through the heart of Los Angeles, and ties us all together.
5:00 PM | Pizzanista
Pizzanista! brings seditiously delicious pizza to downtown Los Angeles. 5:00 PM | LA Skins Music Fest
The 6th Annual L.A. SKINS MUSIC FEST is a Native American concert series that celebrates contemporary Native American musicians. Los Angeles has the largest urban population of Native Americans in the United States, totaling 150,000, and has a vast talent pool of Indigenous musicians. The show begins at 5:00 PM kicking off with a Native American Youth Talent Showcase and bands at 6:00 PM. The LA Skins Music Fest features contemporary Native American music such as pop, jazz, rock and R&B.

The Native American Youth Talent Showcase is designed to encourage Native American youth to explore the performing arts and pursue higher education. Youth will be able to showcase their talents to the community and receive an award for their efforts. The overall goal of the project is to encourage music exploration, celebrate the performing arts and raise the awareness of young Native American musicians.
Free and open to the public, all ages welcome.

8:15 AM | Sunday Morning Mindfulness Meditation
Join UCLA Certified Mindfulness Facilitator and Creativity Coach Jennifer Howd for Sunday morning mindfulness meditation. Each session will include guided meditation, silent practice time, and the opportunity for community sharing. Chairs will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own meditation cushion. There is a $5 donation at the time of class.

3:00 PM | Gone Fishing! On The LA River with Trout Unlimited
If you have ever wanted to fish on the L.A. River, here’s your chance to find out how. Members of the local chapter of Trout Unlimited will be on hand to talk about the various ways to fish the Los Angeles River. This chat will include reading the water of the River, spotting fish, and both fly fishing and bait fishing tactics and techniques.
Our special guest, Jim Burns, of Trout Unlimited and LARiverFlyfishing.com, will show tackle and techniques that work on the river. Come to enjoy some time on the river and get insider tips on how to catch the big one!
