18 Apr 26 Tons of Trash is Only the Beginning
By Marissa Christiansen, Executive Director
River Friends,
This past Saturday I was proud to join nearly 2,000 LA River stewards as we hauled away an estimated 26 tons of trash during Weekend One of FOLAR’s Great LA River CleanUp. This is just the beginning.

This Saturday is Earth Day. It’s the perfect time to join us for a day of service as we continue to grow our impact on the River as a community. Los Angeles has recently led the way in demonstrating our collaborative power and California continues to champion environmental stewardship, so it’s no wonder this is home to the Country’s largest urban river cleanup. This is your chance to join us and fellow community members in making on-the-ground change.
We’re in the Mid River this Saturday (4/22) at seven CleanUp sites in the Elysian Valley from Los Feliz to Downtown. Our impact is only as big as you make it, so please think globally, act locally, and sign up for the Great LA River CleanUp at FOLAR.org/cleanup.
Help us grow our impact. Whether you register or not, your contribution can make this cleanup and all the ones to come bigger, better and cleaner! Consider making a $10, $25 or $50 contribution today at FOLAR.org/donate.
See you on the River,
Marissa Christiansen
Executive Director
