October 25 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am
With the help of the California Native Plant Society, volunteers will remove invasive mustard and learn about its impact on the ecosystem and why its removal is vital to restoring California’s native habitat. Afterward, join San Fernando Valley Audubon Society as they lead nature-filled walks around the Nature Reserve, binoculars provided!
As a special treat for our October Habitat Restoration Day, you can both volunteer and help save the monarch butterfly! The Santa Monica Mountains Fund (SAMO Fund) will be tabling at our October HRD, giving away free native milkweed plants to volunteers.
Milkweed is the only plant monarch caterpillars eat, making it essential for their survival—join the movement to protect this iconic species. (Plants will be limited and given on a first-come-first-serve basis.)
