With the help of the California Native Plant Society, volunteers will remove invasive mustard and learn about its impact on the ecosystem and why its removal is vital to restoring California’s native habitat. Afterward, join San Fernando Valley Audubon Society as they lead nature-filled walks around the Nature Reserve, binoculars provided!

Wings on the Move

Join FoLAR and San Fernando Valley Audubon Society for an educational walk about the birds that call the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve their home, or their home only for the season. This walk will talk about what birds migrate to the area during the winter time and hopefully see some of them in flight! We will provide binoculars, but feel free to bring your own!

 

Bats and Brews – Sept

Did you know there are BATS along the LA River?! Join FoLAR, LA Bat Rescue and the Nature Nexus Institute at Frogtown Brewery on Wednesday, September 11, from 6:30PM – 9:00PM as we search for the bats that call the LA River home! We’re deploying our bat detectors and leading participants along the River in hopes of unveiling the mysterious lives of the LA River’s bats! After our walk, we’ll make our way back to Frogtown Brewery to analyze our findings and learn more with LA Bat Rescue.

Summer @ PVLD Kickoff: Picnic on the Peninsula!

The Palos Verdes Library District (PVLD) is excited kick off the summer season with their community event, Picnic on the Peninsula – the official launch of Summer @ PVLD! The event will take place on Saturday, June 15th, from 10 am to 2pm at Malaga Cove School Grounds. 

Join FoLAR at this free all-ages event, which will feature live performances, a variety of classic cars, music, bubbles, crafts, activities, informational community booths, a photo booth, and snacks.

Explore DeForest Wetlands

Join FoLAR for a day of learning and fun with Long Beach Utilities! They are teaming up with local nonprofits and community-based organizations to host a free, educational event at DeForest Park on Saturday, June 1st from 9AM- 1PM.
