LACBC: Pedal to Paddle the Sepulveda Basin
July 21, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Description
We invite you to join LA County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) for a bike exploration of Lake Balboa, sponsored by Metro’s Bicycle Education Safety Training (BEST) Program. Lake Balboa boasts some of our region’s nicest bike paths and swan pedal boating. We will make our way to the Japanese Tea Garden “garden of water and fragrance” at the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant, which also doubled as a set for various locations for popular TV shows, including the Starfleet Academy on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Afterward, participants have the option of following a ride marshal back to the Metro Station or continuing on to join a kayaking adventure on the Los Angeles River (at an additional cost to participants). We pedaled the LA River, now you can paddle the river as it flows through Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in the San Fernando Valley.
Get a full body workout from peddling on a curated ride that ends with an optional guided kayak tour from LA River Expeditions (LARX) as we paddle through water infrastructure in the San Fernando Valley. The kayak tour is an additional $45 and LARX will be offering an additional 10% discount to participants of this ride. If you are interested in joining the kayak expedition, please reserve a separate ticket below so we can follow-up with you about pre-registration details.
