Bird Survey

After attending our training, you will be equipped with the skills to conduct bird surveys with FoLAR staff and biologist, Tom Ryan. We will be conducting point count bird surveys. When a person conducts a point count survey, they visit various points along the study area and stay at each site for 10 minutes. At each point, the surveyor will identity all the birds they see within a certain radius, which will help estimate species richness, abundance, density, and diversity at each point. This data will be used to see if there is a trend in the bird population of the area, as CA Native Plant Society continues to remove invasive non-native plants, leaving room for native plants to grow and thrive.
