BEST Ride: Bikes, Birds, & Brunch on the LA River
August 31, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

We invite you to join LA County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) and Friends of the LA River (FOLAR) for a nature bike exploration along the LA River sponsored by Metro’s Bicycle Education Safety Training (BEST) Program.
We will ride from Artesia Station, stopping at Compton College for a quick rest stop, and then continue our adventure on the Lower LA River Path. FoLAR will lead a naturalist and bird watching portion of the ride. Our first nature stop will be DeForest Park where we will take a nature walk to identify native plants and birds. We’ll continue riding to the Dominguez Gap Wetlands, constructed as a flood control basin and converted into a multi-use facility with lush wetlands. A limited supply of binoculars will be available, so please bring your own if you have access to them. We will end with a brunch picnic at the wetlands, so please bring snacks to enjoy for yourself (or to share)!
The Del Amo train station is 1.5 miles away from the end of the ride. Del Amo Station is only one stop away from Artesia station, the start of the ride. A marshal will be leading a ride to the Del Amo Station at the end of the ride.
Register here to join this exciting River ride and exploration of the Lower River.
