At River’s Edge – Healthy Urban Ecosystems

October 3, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Tune in and learn about healthy urban ecosystems in the Upper River with FoLAR!

Join FoLAR for the premiere broadcast of a whole suite of new online programs as we explore healthy urban ecosystems in the Upper River.

To kick us off, FoLAR’s very own California-trained naturalist will take viewers on a birding adventure through the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve in search of our feathered friends that live and thrive there. In partnership with Biologist Tom Ryan and the California Native Plant Society, viewers will also learn about efforts to remove invasive plants and restore native habitat. Programming continues with the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians, who will share the history of present-day Encino, land dispossession, and related water politics. Viewers will also be guided through an eco-craft of flower-pressed paper lanterns in collaboration with the Elysian Valley Arts Collective.

This broadcast will be streamed live on Facebook – RSVP here!
