Since most of the copies extant were found in New Mexico, I am now inclined to believe that this picture may be Carson and Edwin O. Perrin, as Kenny and Loraine Englert believed it was in 1968. My original edition of 'Dear Old Kit' had to contend with the mythmakers who were not content with a hero as ordinary as the actual historical person but who wished to worship him as a superman who never failed and who could do no wrong.
