2 The History of Research on Vocational Disciplines and Vocational Didactics at Universities The research on vocational disciplines at universities has been developed particularly in the context of the training of vocational teachers. The more the program concepts lined up with the goal of occupation-qualifying study, the more intensively turned the research and teaching in the questions of vocational disciplines. At the Technical Universities of Dresden and Karlsruhe, as well as at the University of Hamburg, for example, vocational teachers have been trained since the 1920s of the last century.
