The liquid resulting from the hydrolysis of straw is rich in potassium, which can be used as an agricultural fertilizer. However, the presence of sodium in the liquid can be harmful to the soil.

A conducted survey indicated that industries in Egypt are open to the idea of getting their needed supply of steam from a separate rice straw reactor, given that the cost of steam will not exceed its cost based on conventional sources of energy. 3.
