Visit the River
The first and best way to get involved is to go out and experience the Los Angeles River. By going out on a bike ride, kayak trip or even just catching a show at the Frog Spot, our visitor center, you help transform the River into a vital public space. Get started with FoLAR’s LA River Map & Guide to find out where things are happening on the River.
FoLAR Education and Events
An important part of our mission is to bring the River to the people through community events and education. Our community and education teams are constantly out at schools and events teaching people about the River. Of course, you can’t miss our mobile visitor and education center – the Los Angeles River Rover!
Volunteer with FoLAR
There are tons of exciting opportunities to volunteer with FoLAR year-round! The number one opportunity is our annual Great Los Angeles River CleanUp: La Gran Limpieza. Every spring we gather the River Community and in 2016 9,000 volunteers gathered at 15 sites to clean the River.
Volunteers also join our Los Angeles River Docents who are trained volunteer educators who are ambassadors for the River and participate in our school and community education programs. LA River docents are the core of our community outreach and we need you to join them.
If you want to volunteer in another capacity or pursue an internship with FoLAR please get in touch with us and we’ll find the right fit for you!
