Native Species:
Steelhead trout used to be native to the Los Angeles River. THe last recorded photograph of one being caught was taken in the 1940s. They are believed to be extirpated from Southern California, however, in 2008 two were spotted in Ballona Creek. Click here to read the full article in the Los Angeles Times blog.
