Our rivers and oceans need your help now more than ever! Check out the work of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation on ABC News and the amount of plastic debris that travel through waterways like the L.A. River and end up in OUR OCEANS! The Great LA River CleanUp takes place on two days at many different sites along the mighty LA River and its tributaries. To view a flier with all site maps click here. This year it will begin with River School Day on Friday, April 23rd in Long Beach and Friday, April 30th in the Glendale Narrows, with the public clean up on Saturday, May 8th at 14 additional sites. Select a region below for additional information, including maps, directions, and site specifics. QUESTIONS? Contact Alicia Katano at: akatano@folar.org. FoLAR would like to thank all of the 2009 volunteers for coming out to celebrate our 20th L.A. River CleanUp. A total of 37,292 lbs. of trash and 483 lbs. of recycling were removed from the L.A. River this year! For pictures from individual sites please scroll down and select the site you attended. For video footage courtesy of Robert Scheid please click here.
