Description: Taylor Yard, a former 220+acre rail yard with about 3 miles of living riverfront represents the single greatest opportunity for riverfront restoration along the entire 52 miles of the Los Angeles River. Two large areas (over 60 acres) of Taylor Yard have been purchased by California State Parks, with an additional 40+acre purchase being considered. The initial 40-acre park at the site is under construction and expected to open in early 2007 (a joint project of State Parks and LA City’s Recreation and Parks). The CleanUp site is along one of the very nicest stretches of soft bottom river, with tall trees and lots of ducks and other birds.Special Notes: This area is not yet generally open to the public. FoLAR obtains permits to use the site for our CleanUp.
DIRECTIONS:
Bike: There is no River Bike Path on this side of the River in this area. There are convenient bike lanes on Cypress Avenue and Eagle Rock Blvd. From Cypress Avenue, go southwest on Elm Street.
