Location Specifics: Bette Davis Picnic Area, intersection of Riverside Drive,Victory Blvd, & Sonora Ave., technically within Griffith Park, adjacent to the equestrian neighborhoods of Glendale and Burbank.
Trash Sort: Volunteers for Friends of the Los Angeles River will sort 20% of the trash collected at Bette Davis to monitor trends in the composition of the trash in the Los Angeles River. Watch our TRASH SORT TRAINING VIDEO.

Description: Bette Davis Picnic Area is at the upstream end of the scenic Glendale Narrows, the central and longest natural area of the LA River. The picnic area features wonderful tall old sycamore trees, and a beautiful 1938 historic bridge. The River has sloped concrete sides and an earthen bottom, with tall trees, sandbar islands, and lots of birds, including ducks, stilts, egrets and herons.
Special Notes: This site can have high water; rubber boots recommended.
DIRECTIONS:
Bike: Located at the upstream end of the Glendale Narrows LA River Bike Path.
Transit: Metro line 96 and get off at the corner of Zoo Drive and Riverside Drive.
Driving: Exit the 5 Freeway at Western Avenue in Glendale. Go southwest on Western, then turn left onto Victory Blvd. The picnic area is on the right at Riverside/Sonora.
PARKING: FoLAR has non-exclusive permission to park in Easter Field, which is a dirt equestrian lot adjacent to the park. Street parking is also available.
